About

Welcome to Chance’s E-PIK Adventure.  Chance is the author, illustrator and inventor of her Adventure.   Chance is actually a name assigned to her by her parents, Ron and Mary Alberg and not just a metaphor for life.  Chance advises all parents to be cautious about how you name your kids.  Names send off a powerful message. Chance is defined as, “A force assumed to cause events that cannot be foreseen or controlled; luck.” Chance is pretty lucky.  She has just returned from an extended pilgrimage abroad to South Korea, where she taught small children how to speak English.  In the interim, she is preparing for her next big adventure teaching English aboard the Peace Boat.

Chance retired when so was only 31 cause life’s too short for work. Now Chance only spends her time doing things she loves. Both Chance and her Adventure are a work in progress.

15 things I want you to know about me in the first person

1) I am a really good problem solver.

2)I always try to do ‘the right thing’. I have my own moral compass.

3) I am a chronic introvert.

4) My introversion concerns me. I don’t know if it is healthy and sometimes I feel lonely.

5) I always thought I wanted to fall in love, get married and start a family.

6) That is no longer my goal.

7) I am obsessed with my health.  I firmly believe that a healthy body is a healthy mind.

8)I cannot stand when people say, “you should…” or “you have too…”.

9) I am genuinely happy.  Like really seriously bat-shit crazy in love with life.

10) I am loyal! I have no children, but there are people on this planet that I would die for.

11)  I will try anything once.  This has gotten me into a lot of trouble.

12) I think life should be simple.

13) I am incredibly sensitive.   It’s almost like a 6th sense.

13.5) I recognize things a lot of people miss, but I miss things a lot of people notice.

14) I have.

15) I learned the hard way.

    Hi,

    I really like your blog!

I wondered if you’d be interested in being featured on a Korean Travel Website? Here’s the link to it:

    http://www.thesouthkoreatravelguide.com

We started the site as a pilot, with just Gangwon-do, but it’s been so successful that we’re launching version two really soon with information on the whole of Korea.

We’d love to feature some information from your blog – we would link to you and hopefully increase traffic to your blog also… See http://www.thesouthkoreatravelguide.com/thesouthkoreatravelguide_contribute.html for details on what’s in it for you 🙂

Hope you like the website! Look forward to hearing from you!

Found my way to your blog today through one of your photos. Beautiful picture, but it was the caption that got me. Just love the tongue-in-cheek humor, and look forward to keeping up with your EPIK adventure. Thanks for sharing it!

hi. I’m a total introvert almost to a fault. my mom said she was worried about me when I was back in the states about a month ago because I spent so much time alone in my room. I do get lonely though sometimes especially since my mind tends to race with thoughts all the time. its nice to read about another introvert. are you by any chance an INFJ? do you know what that is? anyway, im intuitive and a good judge of character and you seem pretty cool.

it sounds like you have had quite the adventure. I am new to korea and am looking for some cool people to hangout with since I’ve been having a hard time making friends since my school is small and my co teachers are much older. there is one young person but she’s got a korean bf so she never seems to want to hangout. anyway, just trying to make new friends. I don’t have a blog just fb so if I don’t seem to much of a freak to you please shoot me an email on fb or whatever. itd be nice to talk to someone who lives here and is friendly and open minded.

    Dear Ms. Chance Alberg,

Greetings from buzz KOREA administration team! We enjoyed your aspiring stories in Korea uploaded to your blog.

In a week, buzz KOREA(www.ibuzzkorea.com) is hosting a familiarization tour for bloggers currently residing in Korea. There will be many fun experiences like eating Ssambap (Korean tacos using leaves rather than tortillas), learning Samulnori (Traditional Korean percussion music), and visiting Bukchon Hanok village (A cluster of traditional Korean architecture) together. The reason we are preparing such event is to create more of the rich online contents about Korean culture and spread them through social networking sites such as blog, facebook, and twitter. It will be our great pleasure to have you at this event. After the event, we would like you to create contents about this experience and publish it on your blog.

Proposed date for the tour is July 20th(or 22nd), and the event will last from 10am to 5pm. We would like to know whether you are available on either day. Please let us know through the email event@ibuzzkorea.com. Also, if you are participating, please provide us with your contact information. The schedule is tentative; we might modify the schedule if the date we proposed is not available to accommodate many people. We believe that this familiarization tour will be a great opportunity for you and other bloggers to have fun and to broaden your perspective about Korea.

    Thank you.

    Hi Chance

I somehow stumbled upon your blog whilst doing a random google on the GET programme on Peace Boat. I participated in the 74th voyage as a GET teacher and it’s a wonderful experience and undoubtedly one you’ll treasure and remember for the rest of your life!!

I really love how you said you retired at 31 cause life’s too short to work!! I’ve just started a new professional job but already longing for the adventure and experiences that had become such a big part of my life. Torn between being “sensible” and “grown up” and just chucking in the towel and continuing to gain a rich life through random experiences.

I wish you all the best on your voyage on PB and through life!

shoot me an email if you have any questions on PB 🙂 I have at least 2 friends going on the 76th voyage and am so jealous!!!

    Cheers
